Argentine Mining Hits New Records: Is It Time to Invest?

The record high reached by Argentine mining exports in 2025 was not an endpoint. The first data from 2026 show that Argentina´s mining sector is entering an even stronger phase of acceleration, opening a new cycle of opportunities across the entire value chain, from exploration to metal refining.
In 2025, mining exports reached $6.073 billion, the highest figure since official records began. But the most significant data point emerges when we look at the current year: during the first half of 2026, mining exports reached $4.742 billion, up 74.4% from the same period in 2025. In just six months, Argentina has already reached nearly 80% of the total value exported throughout the previous year.
Gold remains the leading mining export, while lithium is showing particularly significant acceleration. During the first half of 2026, lithium exports reached $1.096 billion, up 185% from the same period in 2025 and already exceeding the total value exported during all of 2025. Silver also posted strong growth, consolidating an expansion that is increasing mining´s contribution to Argentina´s generation of foreign currency.
This growth is accompanied by a broader transformation: the development of a new generation of major copper projects. Josemaría, Los Azules, El Pachón, and Taca Taca, among other developments, are advancing through different stages of investment, feasibility, infrastructure, and construction, while new projects are entering the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI). The addition of these developments could significantly change the scale and composition of Argentine mining exports over the coming years.
The opportunity, moreover, extends far beyond extraction. Argentina has abundant resources of copper, lithium, gold, and silver, growing international demand for critical minerals, and an incentive framework designed to attract large-scale investment. The recent update to the mining investment regime, together with its integration with RIGI, is also aimed at streamlining procedures and facilitating the development of new projects.
This scenario presents a strategic challenge: to support production growth with greater industrial and technological capacity within the country. Precious metal refining, material recovery, quality certification, specialized logistics, and technology adoption will become increasingly important to add value, improve competitiveness, and meet international standards.
For decades, Bluemoon has supported Argentina´s mining industry by providing expertise, infrastructure, and precious metal refining solutions that meet international standards. At a time when mining production, investment, and exports are accelerating, having a partner capable of transforming production into added value represents a competitive advantage. If your company is looking to participate in the new growth cycle underway in Argentina´s mining sector, Bluemoon offers the knowledge and technical capabilities needed to support every stage of the process.
